Origin

Tallow + Steel was founded with one goal: create nature-inspired grooming products using the highest quality natural and organic ingredients.

Environment

One of the main ingredients in our shave soap is tallow (rendered beef fat). We source suet (beef fat) from local, pasture-raised, 100% grass-fed cattle which receive no hormones or antibiotics. We then render the tallow ourselves, in-house. While this is more costly and labour-intensive than using commercially available tallow, (which usually comes from industrial factory-farms), it allows us to support farms that caretake the environment and raise animals in an ethical manner. As we firmly believe in sustainable and organic farming practices, we use organic ingredients whenever available. Choosing organic agriculture promotes a less toxic environment for all living things, and helps support the environment.

Scents From Nature

Our scents are created using only natural fragrance materials - those extracted from botanicals. This means aromatic extracts like essential oils (from steam distillation), absolutes and resins (from solvent extraction), CO2 extracts (from supercritical carbon dioxide extraction), or infusions. Our scents are exotic and adventurous, natural and complex. They were created to provide an experience - to invoke thoughts and memories, or to carry your senses to a far away place.

Giving Back

For each product, we source our aromatic materials from the region after which the product is named. We have partnered with a charity from several of these regions, and we donate $1 per product sold to that respective charity. We offer a small selection of cohesive products to ensure consistency and quality. We don't maintain multiple product lines or offer different product formulas; you can ensure that every product you purchase from Tallow + Steel is the finest product we are able to make.
